Ampol will expand its AmpCharge brand beyond its fuel retail network. The brand has announced that it has partnered with real estate company Mirvac to install electric vehicle (EV) charging bays outside of the firm’s shopping centers.

According to a report by local news site Convenience and Impulse Retailing, the retailer will roll out the equipment across the property group’s retail locations, more than doubling its current charging capabilities. These include two centers in Sydney and one in Brisbane.

Mirvac started establishing EV charging destinations for customers six years ago and Kelly Miller, General Manager of Mirvac Retail, has identified a 60% growth in the usage of these stations in the past year.

“This partnership with Mirvac will allow us to expand our offer beyond the forecourt to destinations like Mirvac’s leading property network. We look forward to commencing roll-out of this infrastructure over the coming months,” said Brent Merrick, General Manager of International and New Business at Ampol.

The installation of the first charging bay is expected for late 2023 as part of Ampol’s initiative to roll out over 300 AmpCharge EV charging bays at more than 100 locations across the country.
