Casey's will enter the Texas market after acquiring Lone Star Food Stores’ local convenience store network. The 22 locations will be temporarily closed until the rebranding and remodeling processes are completed.

According to a report by ABC, Sherman-based Douglass Distributing sold the assets to the retailer a week after selling its wholesale fuel distribution division to Offen Petroleum. These outlets will be the first Texan stores for Casey's, adding up to a total of 17 states in which the Iowa-based brand currently operates.

"The Lone Star stores are high quality stores located on great corners in fantastic markets. We appreciate everything that Bill Douglass and the Douglass family have done in this community and for the convenience industry," said Darren Rebelez, President and CEO of Casey's.

The transaction is scheduled to be completed by the end of November and will act as a first step for the chain’s expansion across Texas.

Casey's currently operates over 2,500 convenience stores and defines itself as the third largest c-store operator in the US, as well as the nation’s fifth largest pizza chain.
