EV Charging with Built In Purchasing: First BuyBERT Site Goes Live

Fast charging brings drivers to your forecourt, but the real magic happens while they wait. Most stay in their cars with time to spare and money unspent, leaving huge revenue potential on the table. BuyBERT transforms that idle dwell time into real sales by turning every charging session into an opportunity to engage, influence, and convert.
Turn the Charging Screen into a Sales Channel
BuyBERT is a retail commerce module embedded directly into WILLBERT chargers. It acts as a multi-touchpoint system, always available to the customer, delivering targeted offers, promotions, and purchase options in real time.
Here's how it works in practice:
1. BuyBERT displays personalised promotions, food & beverage offers, or loyalty rewards directly on the charger screen during drivers interaction with the charger.
2. The driver selects an item (together with energy or separately) and pays by card directly at the charger, without entering the store.
3. The order is immediately sent to the location's point-of-sale system and starts being prepared, so by the time the driver walks in, it's ready.
4. Alternatively, retailers can explore delivery to the charging bay option.
All of this is possible using a bank card, without any additional apps or QR codes.
Why This Matters for Retail Operators
The commercial case is straightforward:
● Dwell time doesn't automatically convert to in-store revenue. Studies consistently show that a large share of EV drivers stay in their vehicles for the majority of a charging session. Without an active touchpoint at the charger, that footfall is lost.
● BuyBERT meets the customer where they are: at the screen, at the moment of maximum availability, rather than hoping they'll choose to walk in.
● Operators retain full control over offers, pricing, and campaign content. There is no revenue sharing with third-party software providers. The commercial layer is fully integrated into the charging infrastructure.
● A single platform manages energy delivery, commercial content, and transaction data, reducing operational complexity for site teams.
First Deployment: Live Results at Lukso Store
The first BuyBERT deployment is live and commercially operational at a retail site in Skawina, Poland. Drivers are engaging with offers during active sessions, orders are flowing through to the store system, and the integration with existing POS infrastructure is running without additional manual work for staff.
‘Similar to fuel retail, energy sales alone are not sufficient to sustain commoditised business models. WILLBERT delivers a solution to capture the trapped value of non-energy sales at charging sites.’
Marek Gutt-Mostowy, CEO, WILLBERT by EUROLOOP
This commercial model demonstrates what becomes possible when a charging installation is treated as an active part of the retail environment rather than a utility service.
For retail operators evaluating EV charging infrastructure, BuyBERT represents a direct path from capital investment to measurable ancillary revenue.
