The opening marks the beginning of a pilot project aimed at modernising Galp’s network of 1,300 stations in Portugal and Spain.

Energy company Galp has taken another step in its strategy to transform traditional service stations into multi-service hubs. On Wednesday, the firm unveiled its first collaboration with Santagloria, the coffee and bakery brand owned by FoodBox, at a station in Alcobendas, Madrid.
The opening marks the beginning of a pilot project aimed at modernising Galp’s network of 1,300 stations across the Iberian Peninsula. According to David Álvaro, CEO of Galp Spain, the goal is clear: “We want customers to choose our stations because they want to, not because they have to.”
The new space integrates Santagloria under a “store-in-store” concept, offering premium coffee, artisanal pastries, snacks and hot and cold drinks. Designed with warm materials and an open layout, the station seeks to create a welcoming environment for travellers and locals alike—whether for a quick breakfast, an informal meeting or a moment to disconnect.
Galp has already revamped 50% of its retail network, introducing features such as click-and-collect lockers, mobility solutions and digital services. The partnership with Santagloria adds a gastronomic dimension to this convenience model, aligning with changing consumer habits that prioritise comfort and quality.
