GS Retail seeks to grow its retail network in Vietnam to approximately 280 GS25 convenience stores by the end of 2023. The company currently operates 221 locations across the country that offer local food items alongside South Korean snacks.

The company entered the Vietnamese market in 2018 and has been expanding since, having opened its most recent store last March. According to a report by Aju Korea Daily, Kim Tae-eon, the firm’s communications manager, confirmed in an interview the company’s ambition to hit the 280 mark by 2023.

Tae-eon also mentioned that the brand now operates the largest number of stores in the country’s southern region, beating both Circle K and 7-Eleven.

The GS representative also talked about the chain’s plans to develop assets across the Asian market and become a leading player across the region. In an interview with the news site he revealed that although GS Retail looked to partner with Malaysian KK Group in 2022, negotiations have come to a halt and the company is not carrying out any business activities in this market.
