Pilot with DMRC introduces zero-emission shuttle linking key government hubs in Central Vista.

Indian Oil Corporation (IndianOil) has launched a hydrogen-powered shuttle bus service in New Delhi’s Central Vista district in collaboration with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) and the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs. The initiative introduces zero-emission public transport aimed at improving last-mile connectivity between Central Secretariat and Seva Teerth Metro stations.
The service begins with two hydrogen fuel cell buses, each with a capacity of 35 passengers, operating during peak office hours on working days. The route connects key government buildings and landmarks, including Kartavya Bhawan, Vigyan Bhawan and India Gate, targeting daily commuter traffic in one of the capital’s busiest administrative zones.
The buses are equipped with GPS tracking and CCTV systems to enhance passenger safety and operational monitoring. DMRC will manage operations, ticketing and passenger services, while IndianOil will supply hydrogen fuel and drivers.
IndianOil has been developing hydrogen mobility through pilot deployments and infrastructure investments, including a green hydrogen plant in Panipat. The Central Vista project marks another step in integrating hydrogen into urban transport systems, as India advances its long-term low-carbon and net-zero objectives.
