Mercedes-Benz launches first Canadian high power EV hubs

Roll out begins with eight sites across Metro Vancouver and southern British Columbia.

Mercedes-Benz has opened its first high‑power electric vehicle charging hubs in Canada, marking the start of an eight‑site rollout across Metro Vancouver and southern British Columbia. The debut locations—Abbotsford, Pitt Meadows and Tsawwassen—introduce what the company calls a Canadian first: every charging stall equipped with four cables supporting both CCS‑1 and the North American Charging Standard (NACS).
The sites use 400 kW Alpitronic HYC 400 chargers capable of adding up to 303 km of range in around ten minutes for compatible vehicles. Mercedes-Benz says the four‑cable system removes a persistent frustration for EV drivers: uncertainty over connector compatibility. Heiko Schmidt, president of Mercedes-Benz HPC North America and Canada, said the goal is to make charging “simple, reliable, and accessible for all”, while extending the company’s premium brand experience to public infrastructure.
The hubs form part of a partnership with commercial property manager BGO Properties, which will host several sites including Coquitlam’s Sunwood Square and Squamish Station. Additional charging locations are planned for Nanaimo, Penticton and Surrey. The Canadian expansion follows Mercedes-Benz’s rollout of more than 650 high‑power charging stalls across the United States.
