Shell's Bavaria expansion targets key transport corridors with charging power of up to 400 kW.

Shell Recharge has expanded its ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging network in Bavaria with the addition of 16 new sites, strengthening coverage along major traffic routes and in urban and rural areas. The rollout includes installations at service stations as well as partner locations operated with retailers and property developers.
The new sites offer charging capacities of up to 400 kW, supporting faster charging times and higher vehicle throughput. The expansion reflects Shell’s broader push to scale up its EV charging infrastructure across Germany, combining motorway access with everyday destinations such as grocery and mixed‑use retail locations.
Bavaria represents a key market for charging infrastructure, shaped by long travel distances, high commuter volumes and densely populated metropolitan areas including Munich and Nuremberg. The state also shows above‑average adoption of battery‑electric vehicles, with an EV share of around 7%, compared with the national average, and significantly higher penetration in Munich.
Shell says the added locations are designed to improve accessibility for different user groups, whether passing through transport corridors or charging during routine stops. Drivers can pay using the Shell app, charging cards or contactless options, while business customers can combine charging and fueling through the Shell Card.
With the latest additions, Shell now operates 52 charging locations in Bavaria, providing a total of 236 charging points. Nationwide, Shell runs around 2,200 fast‑charging points and continues to expand both at its own sites and in cooperation with partners including REWE, Penny and Redevco.
