New Magor facility to support growing demand for renewable biomethane as adoption of gas-powered trucks accelerates.

ReFuels has started construction of a new public access refueling station in Magor, South Wales, as part of its national expansion strategy. Owned and operated by CNG Fuels, the new site is strategically positioned near the M4 motorway, one of the UK’s busiest freight routes linking London, South Wales, and the Midlands.
The location also provides proximity to two international airports, the Port of Newport, and major logistics hubs for operators such as Tesco and AB InBev. Currently, more than 2,100 heavy goods vehicles refuel daily across CNG Fuels’ 16 stations in the UK.
“CNG Fuels will provide biomethane to trucks travelling the M4 corridor, one of the UK’s most important freight routes, at Magor and from a planned site in Swindon,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO and co-founder of ReFuels. “The new stations are part of the plan to expand our clean fuel infrastructure network, doubling the UK-wide dispensing capacity by the end of 2028 to meet increasing demand.”
Once fully operational, the Magor station will be able to refuel 12 trucks simultaneously, serving more than 800 trucks per day and dispensing over 30 million kilograms of Bio-CNG annually.
ReFuels’ current UK network can already refuel 11,500 HGVs daily, cutting over 1 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year, a figure expected to double by the end of 2028.
