Rompetrol has launched a tender to acquire, install and commission ultra-fast electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Romania, as part of a national infrastructure project supported by the European Union. Announced in Bucharest, the initiative will deploy 30 chargers across 26 locations, targeting both light-duty and heavy-duty vehicles to support the country’s transition to e-mobility.

The project, co-financed through the EU’s Connecting Europe Facility and approved by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), aims to expand access to alternative fuels along key transport routes. It forms part of Rompetrol’s broader strategy to adapt its retail network to evolving mobility demands.

The rollout includes 17 charging units for passenger vehicles and 13 designed for heavy-duty transport, addressing growing demand from both segments. By focusing on ultra-fast technology, the plan seeks to reduce charging times and improve efficiency for drivers and fleet operators.

The tender process, organized by Rompetrol Financial Group, Rompetrol Downstream and KMG Rompetrol Development, invites qualified suppliers to participate in the deployment of the charging network. Companies must meet specific operational and financial criteria to be considered, reflecting the scale and technical requirements of the project.
