Discover how next generation automatic tank gauging (ATG) technology is transforming fuel and industrial operations. From ultra‑precise radar measurement to effortless wireless upgrades, Dover Fueling Solutions®’ (DFS) latest innovations deliver smarter visibility, stronger safety, and greater control across every site.
In an industry defined by precision, compliance, and operational resilience, the way fuel is monitored and managed is undergoing a quiet but significant transformation. Automatic tank gauging (ATG) systems, once viewed primarily as a compliance tool, are now emerging as a critical source of operational intelligence—reshaping how fuel retailers and industrial operators think about visibility, control, and performance.
A convergence of pressures is driving this shift: tighter environmental regulations, increasing cost sensitivity, and the growing expectation for real-time, data-led decision-making. Knowing what is in a tank is no longer enough. Regardless of the industry or liquid that needs measured, operators need continuous, accurate insight into inventory, asset health, and potential risks, delivered in a way that is both actionable and scalable across various, and sometimes complex, operations.
For fuel retailers, this evolution is redefining site management, where even small inefficiencies can compound across networks. For industrial operators, it’s enabling a move from reactive oversight to proactive control, improving both safety and productivity. Across both sectors, ATG is becoming less about measurement and more about meaningful insights.
As such, the next generation of ATG solutions are emerging. These innovations are not simply incremental improvements, but a response to a broader shift in how the industry approaches fuel management—combining enhanced accuracy, connectivity, and intelligent data use to unlock new levels of performance.
Enhancing Accuracy and Visibility in Industrial Applications
Introducing the ProGauge® LR120 Radar, DFS latest ATG solution specifically designed for industrial applications.
This incredibly accurate radar joins the already well established ProGauge® portfolio, and seamlessly integrates with the ProGauge MagLink LX® console family to provide operators with complete visibility over stocks — whether in liquid or solid form.
Packaged in a hermetically-sealed PVDF enclosure for years of trouble-free and reliable measurement service, the LR120 Radar delivers precise level measurement to ranges of 30 meters (98.4 ft); while its long range, narrow beam makes it best suited for tanks, wet wells with obstructions, or solid level measurement. It is also approved for open air applications outside of a tank and is hazardous area-compliant for safe use in explosive dust or dust environments.
“The ProGauge portfolio has evolved into a one-stop-shop for fuel management and is considered to be one of the leading brands for ATG solutions in the industry,” said Nuno Almeida, DFS Director, Product Management, EMEA. “By evolving our product portfolio to include accurate measurement for industrial applications, we are continuing to offer truly global solutions to provide operators with complete and accurate visibility into their stocks.”
Turning Wired Probes, Wireless
Built utilising extensive ProGauge expertise, and based on field-proven technology, the ProGauge® DMP™ MagRF helps to effortlessly transform a wired probe, wireless – providing operators with secure and reliable communications between probe and tank gauge console, regardless of site orientation or size.
When required wiring infrastructure complicates installation, the DMP MagRF provides operators with an ATG solution that can be installed quickly and easily on site, while delivering a robust and reliable operation, one that enhances wireless connectivity for ProGauge® DMP™ Magnetostrictive probes and ProGauge® DMP Flex™ Magnetostrictive probes (formerly branded DFS DMP™).
The DMP MagRF provides operators with a high-quality, and cost-effective solution to ensure secure, dependable, and robust communication between site equipment. Using a single battery, with a life expectancy of three to five years, the DMP MagRF also embodies low total cost of ownership (TCO).
The DMP MagRF is suitable for use in both retail and industrial applications, when combined with ProGauge DMP and DMP Flex Probe; this includes fuel depots, fuel sites, airports, water treatment plants etc.
“Our teams have worked very hard developing and testing this product to the highest standard over the last year,” said Fergus Heading, DFS Director, Business Development ATG. “The launch of DMP MagRF allows us to provide retailers and operators with a cost-effective upgrade solution, converting wired probes into wireless probes with minimal site interruption.”
