Fuel retailer Terpel has finalized the sale of 34 service stations in Peru to Primax and Coesti, marking a significant development in the ongoing restructuring of the Andean fuel market. The transaction received regulatory approval from Indecopi, the country’s competition and intellectual property authority, in early August, clearing the way for its completion.

Despite divesting its retail network, Terpel confirmed it will maintain its presence in Peru through the production and commercialization of Mobil-branded lubricants, as well as the wholesale distribution of liquid fuels. The company will also continue to operate and supply compressed natural gas (CNG) for Lima’s growing mass transit sector.

The announcement comes amid a wave of strategic shifts in the region’s fuel sector. In a parallel move, UNO CORP, through its Colombian subsidiary Biomax, confirmed the acquisition of Primax’s operations in Colombia and announced a strategic alliance with Grupo Romero to jointly operate in Peru and Ecuador.

The deal is still subject to approval by Colombia’s Superintendence of Industry and Commerce (SIC), as well as other customary closing conditions. Until then, the companies will continue to operate independently.
