Somagaz is a fully integrated operator specialising in the liquefied petroleum gas market in Mayotte.

Vivo Energy has completed its acquisition of Somagaz, reinforcing its presence in Africa and the Indian Ocean.
The Pan-Afican retailer has officially taken control of Somagaz SAS and its subsidiaries, Sigma SAS (responsible for LPG supply, storage, and bottling) and SN Somagaz SAS (in charge of LPG distribution to customers) in Mayotte.
For over 27 years, Somagaz has played a role in the dynamic LPG market of Mayotte, being the undisputed market leader. Committed to ensuring the security and continuity of the Department's LPG supplies, Somagaz operates in strict compliance with French and European safety, health, and environmental standards. The company, which owns a depot and filling centre in Longoni boasting a 1,000-tonne capacity, distributes LPG cylinders to approximately 140 retail outlets. Additionally, Somagaz serves industrial customers across Mayotte through cylinder and bulk distribution.
“We are delighted to announce the successful completion of our acquisition of Somagaz, taking Vivo Energy’s network to 24 African and Indian Ocean markets. This move aligns seamlessly with our growth strategy, in particular, allowing us to expand our LPG business, reach new customers, and deliver enhanced value,” said Stan Mittelman, CEO of Vivo Energy.
"Having acquired LPG businesses in Reunion and Namibia earlier this year, we are focused on accelerating the growth of our LPG business. We are pleased to welcome our new Somagaz colleagues to Vivo Energy,” he added.
Over recent weeks, Vivo Energy has been working closely with Somagaz to ensure the change of control will have no impact on the operational capacity of Sigma or Somagaz, ensuring the smooth continuation of commercial activity and LPG deliveries to its customers.
