Ampol has officially launched the first AmpCharge electric vehicle (EV) charging bays at Stockland Shellharbour, marking the inaugural installation under a long-term strategic partnership with Stockland.

The move signals a major step in Ampol’s broader strategy to expand its EV charging network beyond traditional service stations. Located near Woolworths in the centre car park, the ten ultra-fast charging bays are now available for public use, providing convenient access for shoppers, local residents, and visitors to the Illawarra region.

The chargers are designed to allow drivers to top up their EVs while shopping, dining, or attending appointments at the retail centre.

“We’re pleased to see AmpCharge go live for the first time at one of Stockland's key shopping destinations in Shellharbour. Our focus is on meeting customers where they are, with charging solutions that fit seamlessly into everyday life,” said Patrick Luxton, General Manager Energy Value Chain at Ampol.

The Shellharbour launch is the first of several planned installations across Stockland’s national network of retail centres, following the announcement of the partnership in April 2024.

AmpCharge’s expansion into shopping centres is part of Ampol’s wider strategy to establish a robust, customer-centric EV charging network across Australia, as the company continues to position itself at the forefront of the evolving mobility landscape.
