The company will launch a pilot project alongside Hills Waste Solutions to reduce its fleet’s emissions by up to 90%.

Certas Energy has signed a new refueling partnership with waste management firm Hills Waste Solutions to reduce its fleet’s emissions through Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO).
The agreement involves a trial period of Hills’ Bristol fleet that, if successful, is set to be rolled out across the company’s other transport depots. Through this alternative fuel, Hills Waste will help reduce CO2 emissions by up to 90% compared to traditional diesel.
HVO is derived from 100% renewable raw materials and sustainable waste from verified vegetable fats and oils.
“By utilizing HVO-powered waste collection vehicles, we're enabling businesses to reduce their end-to-end environmental impact, not just within their own operations but as part of their sustainability commitments applied to their supply chain,” said Neil Luce, Operations Manager at Hills Waste Solutions.
Certas Energy is one of the largest distributors of fuel and lubricants in the UK, and member of the Renewable Fuels Assurance Scheme (RFAS). At Hills Waste Solutions, the decision to embrace HVO fuel is a commitment to sustainable waste management, powering operations in the most environmentally friendly way possible.
