Copec has established a solar plant to operate its first off-grid service station located in Antofagasta.
This means that the site does not depend on the main electricity grid for its operation. The facility is mainly supplied by photovoltaic energy through solar panels, contributing to the company's carbon neutrality goals.
Strategically located, the station has a combination of solar panels on the roof and the ground to maximize solar energy collection throughout the day. It also has a storage battery and additional generators to ensure a stable supply even in adverse weather conditions.
The energy system was installed by Copec Flux, a subsidiary dedicated to photovoltaic energy at both the residential and industrial levels, and it is projected that by next summer the station will be operating 100% on clean energy.
This development will significantly reduce the station's environmental footprint, reinforcing Copec's strategy in the transition to a sustainable and efficient energy model.
