Exploring YPF’s flagship service station

We visited YPF’s state-of-the-art Alcorta service station and FULL convenience store, winner of the NACS Latin American Retailer of the Year Award 2024.

As part of its transformation journey, Argentina's YPF officially launched its flagship service station in Buenos Aires last year. Alongside its FULL convenience brand, the country's leading fuel retailer created an innovative mobility hub in the heart of the capital, which recently earned the NACS Latin American Convenience Retailer of the Year 2024 award.

The MobilityPlaza team visited the Alcorta station and explored how the company is redefining the customer experience across its nationwide network of over 1,700 stations and 1,010 c-stores. Designed to meet the diverse needs of both current and future customers, this state-of-the-art outlet is spearheading the transformation of the company across the country.

“We put a lot of effort into developing the various service modules that the station offers, which gives us the opportunity to test different propositions and adapt to the diverse needs of stations across the country,” explains Maite de la Arena, B2C Director at YPF.

The forecourt includes 14 fueling positions and four electric vehicle (EV) charging spots, situated in an ample area designed for enabling high pedestrian traffic. Additional amenities feature a spacious parking area, 24/7 YPF Boxes services for car care and lubricants, an YPF autofull drive-thru, E-Parking for bicycles and scooters, and an exercise area with lockers and showers for athletes.

The FULL convenience store offers seating for 140 people and features multiple sales channels. These include standard cashiers, automated totems, Grab&Go options, and smart fridges, all designed to work seamlessly with the YPF App. The store's second floor is entirely dedicated to a co-working space. The "Full Work" section can accommodate 44 people simultaneously and is equipped with five meeting rooms and two soundproof rooms.

“We serve a wide range of consumers, including urban customers living nearby and those in transit. We also cater to athletes who exercise nearby as well as young students from local universities, people arriving from different parts of the country, due to our 5-minute distance to the airport, and freelancers who use the station as a workspace,” adds De la Arena.

Sustainability is also a central element in Alcorta's design and layout. Situated among several parks in the city center, the facility blends seamlessly with its natural surroundings, enhanced by its rooftop garden and distinctive design. Additionally, an in-house Y-ALGAE totem has been installed to absorb CO2 and purify the air using its cutting-edge microalgae system.

YPF Alcorta not only represents a milestone in the company’s over 100-year history but also serves as a cornerstone for its future development. The site is at the forefront of transforming the fuel retail network and FULL convenience stores, setting an example in Argentina and across the entire continent.
