Greencore, one of the UK’s leading producers of convenience foods, has rolled out a new fleet of 15 vehicles powered by Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), marking a major step in its efforts to reduce transport-related carbon emissions.

The renewable diesel alternative, made from waste vegetable oils and animal fats, can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 90% compared to conventional diesel. HVO is fully compatible with existing diesel engines and infrastructure, allowing for immediate integration without additional investment.

“By switching to HVO, we’re not only cutting emissions by up to 90%, but also demonstrating that sustainable logistics is achievable today—not just in the future,”  said Jeremy Fitton, Head of Logistics at Greencore.

The new fleet will serve major distribution routes across the UK, reinforcing Greencore’s broader sustainability strategy. The company continues to invest in greener practices across its operations, aiming to minimize its environmental footprint while delivering fresh, high-quality food to retailers and consumers nationwide.
