Strategic collaboration with Pertamina and West Java Province marks the first overseas expansion of the company’s W2H model.

Hyundai Motor Group has announced comprehensive action plans to establish a waste-to-hydrogen (W2H) ecosystem in West Java Province, Indonesia.
As the first overseas expansion of its hydrogen production model, the initiative will be developed in collaboration with key Indonesian partners. These include the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, the Ministry of National Development Planning, and state-owned energy company PT Pertamina.
As part of the W2H initiative, Hyundai plans to establish an on-site hydrogen refueling station by 2027, leveraging Pertamina’s existing compressed natural gas (CNG) infrastructure.
The station will be supplied with low-carbon hydrogen derived from biogas produced at the Sarimukti landfill near Bandung, West Java’s capital.
Hyundai’s expansion into Indonesia builds on its W2H projects in South Korea, including facilities in Chungju and Paju that convert organic waste and sewage sludge into hydrogen. The Indonesian project is being developed under the company’s hydrogen business brand, HTWO.
