The brand is set to almost double its footprint across the state, operating under the Kwik Star brand.

Kwik Trip is set to almost double its retail footprint in South Dakota by opening 5 new convenience stores. The retailer will add up to a total of 11 locations in the last year.
After expanding to the state during fall 2023, the brand will open new sites in cities where it already operates and foray into new ones. Currently, the chain has four c-stores in Sioux Falls, one in Brandon and Harrisburgn, with plans to open three more Sioux Falls stores, another in Harrisburg and one in Brooking, according to a report by Keloland Media Group.
The chain operates as Kwik Star in the state, to differentiate from the QuikTrip, another renowned c-store operator. That is why the company decided to change its name across its Iowa, Illinois and South Dakota locations.
“We felt like it just made sense for us to look at expanding. We’ve been very happy with the success that we’ve experienced in Sioux Falls to this point and we’re very excited to continue that growth in South Dakota,” said Ben Leibl, a spokesperson for the convenience store chain, to Keloland.
Kwik Trip is a family owned company that operates over 860 locations across Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, Michigan, and South Dakota.
