Spar is set to open its first store in Israel by early 2024, located in Kfar Saba. The inaugural site will reportedly be a 2,500 square meter store that will offer products from well-established local brands such as Strauss, Tnuva and Osem-Nestle alongside branded items.

According to a report by Globes, the CEO of the local branch and owner of the Israel franchise, Amit Zeev, has been in contact with real estate firms to open additional branches throughout the country. Zeev agreed with the company to bring Spar to Israel over a year ago, after stepping down as CEO of retail chain Yeinot Bitan.

Months after the announcement, he also signed an agreement with Shufersal so that the chain would have a 19.9% stake in the local franchise while Zeev retained 80.1%. The partnership is yet to be approved by the Israel Competition Authority.

A total of 14,000 stores operate under the Spar brand across 48 countries and has been expanding to new markets recently with its first locations in Paraguay and Latvia.
