New facility planned for autonomous fleet maintenance signals expansion of dedicated Robotaxi infrastructure.

Tesla is advancing its Robotaxi strategy with plans to develop a dedicated car wash and maintenance facility in Las Vegas, according to permit filings submitted last week. The project outlines upgrades to an existing site to support the operation of the company’s growing autonomous vehicle fleet.
The permit, titled “Tesla Center Mohawk Cybercab Phase 2 Car Wash,” details the construction of a car wash enclosure alongside infrastructure modifications, including relocation of tire service equipment and installation of power systems. The site is expected to function as a specialized hub for cleaning and maintaining Tesla’s Cybercab vehicles, according to Teslahubs.
The move reflects the company’s broader push to build an ecosystem tailored to self-driving ride-hailing services. The Cybercab, designed without a steering wheel as an autonomy-first vehicle, recently entered mass production, requiring dedicated infrastructure where vehicles can be serviced, charged and prepared for continuous operation with minimal human intervention.
The Las Vegas location is likely to form part of a wider network that includes private Robotaxi charging hubs, integrating high-capacity charging with automated cleaning and maintenance services. This approach could enable faster turnaround times for vehicles within Tesla’s fleet-based mobility model.
