Westfalen AG is pushing ahead with the digitalization of its fuel retail business, implementing digital receipts at its 256 service stations and terminals.

The Münster-based company is working with digital receipt technology-provider anybill while processing will continue to be carried out using HUTH Elektronik Systeme’s POS system. Customers can easily access the digital receipt on their smartphone by scanning a QR code at the station checkout.

"The cooperation with anybill enables simple, legally compliant integration of the digital service into the existing checkout system," explains Sven Benger, Specialist Payment Retail Systems at Westfalen.

With the changeover, Westfalen is already preparing for the introduction of the updated regulation to issue receipts.

"The decision to switch to digital receipts underlines Westfalen's commitment to environmental protection and economic efficiency," adds Lea Frank, Co-Founder & CEO of anybill.

This announcement is part of Westfalen’s strategy to transform its operations across Germany. The company is undergoing several processes to keep up with the industry’s transition, such as transforming stations into mobility hubs, smart store pilot projects, opening hydrogen stations and more.
