Canadian Tire Corporation (CTC) and Microsoft announced a strategic retail partnership to drive innovation across the chain’s retail network.

The seven-year partnership aims to modernize the company’s systems and infrastructure as well as utilize direct access to Microsoft's cloud products and solutions, expertise, and upskilling capabilities. CTC will use these new assets to increase the speed and efficiency of its business modernization, enhancing customers' omnichannel journey and brand experiences across its group of companies.

Microsoft will become CTC's strategic cloud provider, with the retailer migrating the majority of its IT infrastructure onto the Microsoft Azure platform. This will accelerate the data-driven journey, speed to market, enhancement of customer experience and personalized offers.

"By combining our unrivaled understanding of Canadians with Microsoft's cutting-edge technology and expertise –we will achieve greater stability and scale and unleash our collective expertise to drive exciting retail innovation not only at CTC but across Canada," said Greg Hicks, President and CEO at Canadian Tire Corporation.

The partnership will also enable co-innovation opportunities that leverage AI and machine learning responsibly to enhance customer experience, optimize operations, and unlock new opportunities for Canadian retail.
