Circle K Latvia plans to acquire Astarte Nafta

The Competition Council of Latvia has received notification from the brand to buy Astarte’s assets in the country, which include a service station in Riga.

On August 7, the Competition Council of Latvia received a full merger notification from Circle K regarding its intention to acquire control over the assets of Astarte Nafta, including a fuel station located in Riga.
Astarte operates in the retail sale of fuel and lubricants, autogas (LPG), automotive accessories, hot beverages, and essential goods at its fuel stations.
According to the information provided in the notification, the activities of the merging parties overlap in the retail sale of fuel, autogas (LPG), quick snacks, hot beverages, and essential goods at fuel stations across Latvia.
The Council must make a decision on whether to approve or prohibit the merger with binding conditions within one month from the date of receiving the notification. If additional in-depth investigation is required, the decision period may be extended to three months from the date of notification.
