The retailer partnered with Cemex to apply three high-impact sustainable technologies at the same time in one outlet, a process that is set to be implemented for new stores to be built.

OXXO has teamed up with Cemex, a construction materials company, to promote sustainability practices for the construction of new stores. As part of this partnership, the brand built its first store with recycled concrete, low-carbon concrete, and alternative water.
This is the first time that three high-impact sustainable technologies have been applied at the same time in one of the brand's stores. The outlet is located in Toluca, State of Mexico, and will be used as a reference for the construction of new stores throughout the rest of the country.
This project is part of the company's "Construction with recycled materials" initiative, a strategy to reinforce its commitment to the environment.
"Fostering a culture of environmental care internally and externally, and using innovative technology in processes, are two fundamental pillars in our sustainability strategy, with the circular economy being fundamental to our operations," explained Jorge Carpio, Sustainability Manager at OXXO.
Cemex collaborated with the project in specifying the concrete and supplying the materials. These actions prevented the release of 10 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, which is equivalent to planting 164 new trees and growing them for 10 years.
