Fresh Stop leadership exits as owner pursues $200M expansion

President and CEO departures create gaps as Madison Capital seeks to double its c-store and car wash footprint.

Fresh Stop is undergoing major leadership changes just as its parent company, Madison Capital Group, prepares for a significant expansion push. The Southeast convenience retailer recently parted ways with its president, Matt Pickelsimer, while CEO Joe Teague has resigned.
Both executives stepped into their roles less than a year ago, overseeing Fresh Stop and Madison’s Links Car Wash brand. Pickelsimer has since left the business, and Teague has opted to “semi-retire” while planning to build a legal practice that will continue advising Madison, as reported by C-Store Dive.
Their departures arrive as Madison accelerates its growth strategy. The firm aims to raise $200 million to expand its network of Fresh Stop stores and Links car washes, with plans to acquire 20 to 30 convenience stores and a similar number of wash sites.
Madison opened its first Fresh Stop locations in early 2025 and now operates 17 stores across Texas, Florida and Arkansas. Its Links Car Wash network includes roughly 30 sites in Texas, Florida and South Carolina.
