Last update: Apr 2, 2025
Global sustainable fuels demand is projected to exceed 250 million tonnes per year by 2035.
HIF Global and Mabanaft have signed an agreement for long-term sale and purchase of approximately 100,000 tonnes per year of e-methanol from the former’s international portfolio of e-fuels production facilities.
The partnership outlines the key commercial terms that will guide the negotiation of a definitive sales and purchase agreement. It also broadens the scope of an earlier Memorandum of Understanding between the two companies, now encompassing production facilities in Uruguay and the United States in addition to Chile.
“The market for sustainable fuels is expected to exceed 250 million tonnes annually by 2035. At HIF Global, we’re developing a global portfolio of over 15 million tonnes per year of e-fuels—drop-in, advanced hydrocarbons—designed to meet growing global energy needs while enhancing energy security and leveraging existing infrastructure,” said Diego Fettweis, Chief Commercial Officer at HIF Global.
This partnership supports both companies’ efforts to accelerate the availability of scalable, low-carbon fuel alternatives in line with global decarbonization goals.
