The retailer has installed its first fast chargers in Nieuwegein as part of its cooperation with PowerGo to support e-mobility across the country.

Jumbo customers can now charge their electric vehicles (EVs) in Nieuwegein as part of the retailer’s partnership with PowerGo. The stores at De Walnootgaarde and Galecop are the first locations to have their own fast chargers.
"More and more customers have an electric car. Now, while they are shopping, they can easily and quickly charge their car at one of our charging stations. We are working hard to reduce CO2 in our stores and at the same time we also want to help our customers reduce emissions," said Anrico Maat, Sales & Operations Director at Jumbo Supermarkets.
The company has plans to install chargers at several stores in the Netherlands and Belgium. With each session, customers receive 25 Jumbo Extras points, which can be redeemed for free groceries and discounts on subscriptions and days out.
"Our charging stations are equipped with 100% sustainable solar energy from Dutch soil. In this way, we are making great strides in the rollout of the fast charging network and offering drivers of electric cars a sustainable and user-friendly solution," added Ivo van Dam, Chief Technology Officer at PowerGo.
The power for the charging stations is sustainably generated and comes entirely from Dutch solar energy. Soon, fast charging poles will also be installed at Jumbo stores in Heel (Dorpsstraat), Ter Apel (Nederveen Cappelstraat), Krimpen aan den IJssel (de Korf) and Deurne (Schelde).
