Mabanaft is undertaking a project to develop a hydrogen refueling station for heavy goods vehicles in the city of Lübeck, Germany.

Designed by Hypion GmbH, the site will have a capacity of up to 2,000 kilograms of hydrogen per day and is expected to be operational by the end of 2025. The facility will be integrated into the network of the company's subsidiary, Staack Pooltankstellen.

Established to cater specifically to the needs of heavy goods vehicles, the station will be capable of supplying up to 50 trucks per day.

“Our goal is to provide customers with tailored energy solutions to support their path to decarbonisation. Our planned hydrogen refueling station in Lübeck is a further commitment to this vision,” explained Volker Ebeling, Senior Vice President New Energy, Supply & Infrastructure at Mabanaft.

The hydrogen refueling station will be operated by Staack Pooltankstellen within the tankpool24 network, which encompasses over 2,000 stations across Europe, including more than 750 in Germany.

Hypion, a project developer based in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, specialising in the hydrogen economy, prepared the project for investment readiness. Mabanaft has now become the sole investor in the Lübeck site and will continue to implement the project in collaboration with Hypion.
