Moeve has begun supplying 100% renewable diesel (HVO) at its service station located airside at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport, making it the first company in Spain to provide renewable fuel within an airport.

The station supplies all ground vehicles operating at the airport, meaning that from now on, airlines and ground handling companies can decarbonize their operations without making any technical modifications to their fleets.

“With the supply of HVO at El Prat Airport, we are launching the use of this second-generation biofuel at airport facilities, a new step in our strong commitment to the sustainability of the aviation sector, to which we already supply SAF at Spain’s main airports,” said Pierre-Yves Sachet, Executive Vice President of Mobility at Moeve.

The company produces HVO at its La Rábida Energy Park in Palos de la Frontera (Huelva) using used cooking oils, promoting a circular economy model. To ensure supply to land, sea, and air transport operators, the Spanish firm is also building the largest second-generation biofuel production complex in Southern Europe in partnership with Bio-Oils.

Moeve’s strategic goal is to become a key player in the energy transition this decade, leading renewable fuel production in Spain and Portugal with an annual capacity target of 2.5 million tonnes.
