The companies BKW, Hectronic, and TWINT have combined their expertise to introduce an innovative payment method for e-mobility on a large scale in the Swiss market: charging and paying directly with TWINT. This solution significantly simplifies the payment process at charging stations, ensures greater transparency, and prevents hidden costs – a major step forward in the development of e-mobility.

Simple and Convenient Operation
The handling is extremely straightforward: users open the TWINT app, scan the QR code at the charging station, confirm the charging process, plug the charger into the vehicle – and charging begins. This allows users to control and manage the entire charging process, from activating the station to payment, within the familiar TWINT app environment. Hectronic manages the integration into the charging infrastructure and backend systems in the background.

Transparent Charging Costs for Over 5 Million TWINT Users
Effective immediately, all TWINT users can utilize this new payment method – without needing a contract with a charging card provider or downloading additional apps. The pricing is set exclusively by the charging station operator, eliminating additional costs from charging card providers or roaming fees. Users only pay the fees set by the station operator – with no hidden costs or unexpected surcharges.

Maximum Security with TWINT
Unlike conventional ad-hoc QR code payments, the code is scanned directly with the TWINT app. This makes so-called "quishing" – the fraudulent overlaying of QR codes for manipulation – ineffective. The TWINT app immediately detects foreign, incorrect, or manipulated codes, aborts the process, and provides an alert. This ensures the highest level of payment security.

Launch on March 17, 2025
The new charging solution wlaunched on March 17, 2025, at the first BKW charging stations – easily accessible at the Grauholz Nord rest stop (direction Bern). In the coming months, the solution will be introduced at many more BKW charging stations. This marks the beginning of a new era for simple, secure, and transparent payments in e-mobility.
