Oman Shell inaugurated the Sultanate of Oman’s first hydrogen refueling station. Strategically positioned near Muscat International Airport, the state-of-the-art facility integrates green hydrogen production, hydrogen refueling, EV fast-charging, and conventional fueling options.
The newly launched station stands as Oman’s first green hydrogen production facility, employing electrolysis technology powered by solar energy. With a production capacity of up to 130 kg of green hydrogen per day, the initiative aligns with Oman’s Vision 2040 and Net Zero 2050 goals by fostering the adoption of clean energy in the transportation sector.
“By integrating renewable energy, onsite hydrogen production, and advanced mobility solutions, this project demonstrates the potential of hydrogen ecosystems in attracting investment and supporting future technologies,” said Salim Nasser Al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, underscoring the national significance of the project.
“The Green Hydrogen for Mobility project underscores Oman Shell’s commitment to sustainable innovation in Oman,” added Oman Shell’s VP and Country Chairman, Walid Hadi.
The launch of the hydrogen station signals a new chapter in Oman’s energy transition, as the country continues to attract investment in hydrogen ecosystems while fostering cutting-edge solutions in clean mobility.
