ORLEN’s experience in downstream operations and fuel retail will support Naftogaz in expanding its product offerings.

Poland’s ORLEN Group and Ukraine’s Naftogaz have signed an agreement to deepen their strategic cooperation in the energy sector. The agreement, finalized during the Newfolk Oil & Gas conference in Lviv, outlines joint efforts in oil and gas exploration, downstream development, and the expansion of cross-border trade and infrastructure.
The partnership aims to enhance Ukraine’s energy independence by diversifying sources of gas and crude oil supply and enabling access to alternative fuels. It builds upon existing cooperation, including ORLEN’s earlier deliveries of 300 million cubic meters of American LNG to Naftogaz under three separate contracts.
In addition to increasing natural gas flows from Poland to Ukraine, the two companies will explore joint upstream projects and modernize war-damaged energy assets. ORLEN’s experience in downstream operations and fuel retail will support Naftogaz in expanding its product offerings, including gasoline, diesel, and asphalt, while also accelerating the development of the biofuels segment.
ORLEN President Ireneusz Fąfara emphasized the significance of the partnership for regional energy stability, noting that the company plays a pivotal role in securing energy supplies not only for Poland but for the broader region. Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi praised the constructive dialogue with ORLEN and expressed optimism about taking the collaboration to a new level.
