Orlen has begun testing in Poznań of its first all-access 24-hour hydrogen station in Poland, open to service for cars, trucks and buses.

The company will supply 1.8 million kilograms of hydrogen fuel for Poznań transport in the next 15 years thanks to a contract signed alongside the Municipal Transport Company in Poznań. This amount will be used to fuel 25 buses as the largest hydrogen project of its kind in the country.

The hydrogen refueling station is set to launch in a few weeks for all users of hydrogen-fueled vehicles.

“We see great potential, especially in public transportation, in the technology for producing zero-emission hydrogen fuel. To take full advantage of it, by 2030 we will invest PLN 7.4 billion, among other things, in building a network of more than 100 hydrogen stations, located not only in Poland, but also in the Czech Republic and Slovakia," said Daniel Obajtek, CEO of Orlen.

Hydrogen for the Poznań station comes from Orlen Group's own generating capacity and will be delivered in battery trucks, which also serve as storage facilities. Other hydrogen stations are currently being constructed by the group in Bielsko-Biała, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Wałbrzych, Cracow, Włocławek, Gdynia, Piła and Warsaw, set to start operations by mid-2025.
