REWE launches new hybrid store in Hamburg

The over 1,200 m2 location is powered by computer-vision and is the second site to feature the company’s Pick&Go technology in the city.

Back in July, REWE launched Europe's largest computer vision-supported store in Hamburg, Germany.
After completing its pilot test, the location offers all customers a cashierless experience through computer vision. Whoever enters the site can choose between four different payment options, the Pick&Go option via app, scanning and paying at the self-checkout terminal, computer vision support without scanning or in the traditional way at the cash register.
With over 1,200 square meters of sales space, the REWE store in Hoheluftchaussee has a range of around 20,000 items, deposit machines, a sushi selection and extended payment options.
Hamburg will soon be the first and so far only city in Germany to have two REWE Pick&Go stores. Following the launch in Hoheluftchaussee, the second location is currently in test operation after reopening in mid-June.
With more than 170,000 employees nationwide and 3,800 stores, REWE Markt GmbH is one of the leading companies in German food retailing. The REWE and nahkauf stores are operated as branches or by independent retailers.
