The company has upgraded its Markham Moor Truck Stop in Nottinghamshire with a 400kW charge point to support the sector’s transition.

Shell Commercial Road Transport has launched the United Kingdom’s first charging location for heavy-duty vehicles.
Located at the Shell Markham Moor Truck Stop in Nottinghamshire, the company aims to provide a convenient charging solution for fleet customers. With more than 8,000 heavy goods vehicles passing daily, the Markham Moor site has been established adjacent to the A1 highway, considered a critical transport artery connecting major cities and regions across the UK.
The energy giant acquired the site in 2022 and has now installed a 400kW charge point designed for trucks as the destination hub becomes even more important for this sector.
“That electric future is already coming to fruition in the UK. Providing a seamless charging experience for drivers at Shell Markham Moor is another step in helping transport companies continue to operate efficiently during the energy transition," said Euan Moir, Head of UK Fleet Solutions at Shell.
The charge point at Shell Markham Moor Truck Stop is enhanced with a user-friendly reservation system that allows fleets to guarantee the availability of chargers and to plan and schedule stops. This reduces driver downtime, making it easier for the logistic and transport segment to embrace electric mobility.
