Shell Belgium, Carrefour and real estate company Redevco began setting up a network of charging stations for hybrid and electric vehicles (EV) last July.

The 100th of these sites was established last December, and the companies aim to roll out almost 500 charging stations capable of simultaneously recharging almost 1,000 EVs by 2025. The companies are committed to accelerate the energy transition, and improve the charging infrastructure for their customers.

The rollout of the new Shell Recharge charging stations began in July 2023 and 100 poles are already available in the parking lots of Borsbeek, Ninove, Grimbergen, Coxyde, Kuringen, Hasselt, and Edegem Molenveld.

"By extending our network of charging stations, we can make electric driving more attractive. Collaborations with companies like Carrefour are essential to accelerate the energy transition in our country," said Christophe Vaessen, Chairman and CEO of Shell Belgium.

Charging stations have charging capacities ranging from 22 kW to 150 kW, enabling an EV. This collaboration is made possible in part by the Redevco real estate company, which manages the commercial parks where the charging stations are located.

The three companies plan to continue developing the Shell Recharge network in Belgium, with plans to expand their network of EV charging stations in the Brussels region and Wallonia from the first quarter of 2024.
