SOCAR has officially opened the first fast-charging station for electric heavy-duty vehicles on the country’s busiest highway. The Kölliken Nord rest area on Switzerland’s A1 motorway is now home to a major milestone in sustainable freight transport.

The new charging point delivers up to 400 kW of power for electric trucks, enabling ultra-fast, efficient, and emission-free charging. Four SOCAR Charge Express units are available on site, each offering up to 200 kW of charging capacity. The infrastructure is open 24/7 and allows for spontaneous use without prior registration.

This installation reflects SOCAR’s broader commitment to advancing the energy transition and supporting future mobility solutions. Additional charging locations tailored to the needs of electric trucks are already in the planning phase as the company accelerates its fast-charging network rollout across strategic transport corridors.

Kölliken Nord itself holds historical significance, having been the site of Switzerland’s first motorway service area back in 1967.
