Spar International announces an expansion of its partnership with Whywaste, a leader in food waste reduction technology.
Building upon their successful collaboration in combating food waste, the two companies are now taking another step forward with the launch of Smart Markdowns at Spar stores. This dynamic system lowers prices on products that are close to their expiration date.
This partnership was initiated back in September 2022 with the original agreement laying the foundation for evolving the management of food waste. Through the digital date-checking solution, food wastage can be minimized whilst operational efficiency is enhanced.
“Our collaboration with Whywaste demonstrates how innovation and sustainability go hand in hand. The inclusion of Smart Markdowns is another tool that supports Spar country organizations with their operational efficiency,” stated Tom Rose, Head of Operations at SPAR International.
The collaboration is entering a new phase with the introduction of Smart Markdowns – a dynamic discounting system that leverages real-time data and AI-powered insights to dynamically adjust prices on products nearing their expiration date, driving sales while simultaneously reducing food waste. This approach not only benefits consumers with attractive discounts but also makes sure all items get sold before their expiry date.
