Colombian fuel retailer Organización Terpel S.A. has created a new subsidiary, Terpel IRE S.A.S., as part of its push to expand in the country’s growing electric mobility and energy sectors. The new entity, registered in Bogotá, aims to develop infrastructure and operational capacity dedicated to clean energy solutions, according to an official statement.

The decision, approved by Terpel’s board in April, reflects the company’s strategy to diversify beyond fossil fuels and align with Colombia’s energy transition goals. Operations of the new subsidiary are expected to begin within two months as its operational model takes shape. Terpel said the establishment of Terpel IRE did not involve any significant material costs.

The company indicated that the subsidiary will focus on projects such as the installation and operation of electric vehicle charging stations, a market that has been expanding rapidly in Colombia alongside the government’s sustainable mobility initiatives and the rise of EV adoption.

The move follows Terpel’s recent acquisition of a 26.6-megawatt solar power plant in Córdoba, reinforcing its entry into renewable energy generation.
