BP has secured a 100-megawatt electrolyzer system for its Lingen green hydrogen project in Germany, marking a significant step in its hydrogen production strategy. The system, supplied by Accelera, will be the largest electrolyzer assembled by the company to date.

Once operational in 2027, it is expected to produce up to 11,000 tons of green hydrogen per year, powered by renewable electricity from offshore wind sources.

The hydrogen produced at Lingen will support BP’s refinery operations and industrial customers in the region, including steel and chemical producers, contributing to Germany’s growing hydrogen economy. The project is part of BP’s broader efforts to decarbonize industrial processes and expand its low-carbon energy portfolio.

Felipe Arbelaez, Senior Vice President for Hydrogen and Carbon Capture & Storage at BP, highlighted the project's significance, stating that it demonstrates how large-scale hydrogen initiatives can support sustainability goals and transition industrial operations toward lower emissions.
