bp pulse has announced the extension of its long-term partnership with Transport for London (TfL), reinforcing its commitment to expanding and improving the capital’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. The renewed agreement, in place since 2018, will allow continued reinvestment into London’s on-street rapid charging network through to 2029.

Together, bp pulse and TfL operate over 150 public chargers across Greater London and surrounding areas, including Watford and Epping Forest. The network plays a vital role in supporting the city’s transition to zero-emission mobility, particularly for taxis, ride-hailing services, and other commercial fleets.

As part of a major upgrade programme, bp pulse has replaced many of the original chargers installed in 2018 with next-generation rapid units. The new technology has proven to be 50% more heavily used than previous models, reflecting rising EV demand and improved reliability.

So far, nearly 130 new chargers have been installed under the first three phases of the upgrade programme, with a final phase that will add five more units due for completion by the end of November.

“We are delighted to extend our agreement with TfL to 2029,” said Valerio Ferro, General Manager at bp pulse UK. “We’re seeing increased demand on the new chargers, showing how important it is for taxis and ride hails to have the EV infrastructure in the right places.”

The initiative forms part of bp pulse’s wider mission to deliver a dependable, high-performance public charging network that keeps Londoners and their vehicles moving efficiently toward a more sustainable future.
