Murcia has taken a step forward in sustainable mobility with the launch of new EV charging points installed by Iberdrola España. The first units under a contract awarded by the Murcia City Council last December are now operational on Avenida de los Pinos, next to the company’s local offices.

Under the agreement, Iberdrola España will install a total of 98 EV charging stations across the city, providing 190 parking spaces for simultaneous vehicle charging. The infrastructure will include 40 fast chargers with a power output of 50 kilowatts (kW) and the remainder as semi-fast chargers (22 kW).

All charging points will be powered by 100% renewable energy with a guarantee of origin. Users can access the network via Iberdrola’s public charging app, which allows real-time status checks, reservations, and payments. The new 50 kW fast chargers will also include card payment terminals to improve usability.

Iberdrola España operates the largest public EV charging network in Spain, with more than 9,500 publicly accessible points and over 45,000 chargers in total when private installations are included.
