Belgium operator MAES Energy & Mobility has expanded its offering of HVO100 to 25 locations across the country.
HVO100 is a renewable diesel alternative that can reduce CO₂ emissions by up to 90% over its lifecycle compared to conventional diesel. Produced from renewable raw materials such as used cooking oils and animal fats, it does not require additional agricultural land and can be used in modern diesel engines without modifications.
The expansion aligns MAES with a broader European trend that sees growing adoption of HVO100 as a viable substitute for fossil-based diesel. The company cites increasing demand for cleaner fuel options from both private and professional drivers. By broadening the availability of HVO100, MAES aims to make the transition to low-emission mobility more accessible.
This move reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to reducing the carbon footprint of Belgium’s mobility sector. According to MAES, HVO100 may also help certain diesel vehicles pass emissions inspections, particularly those struggling with particulate matter levels due to older diesel particulate filters.
With over 300 fueling stations in its national network, MAES continues to invest in alternative fuels as part of its broader strategy to support the energy transition in Belgium.
