OKQ8 and Skellefteå Kraft have unveiled a new milestone in its e-mobility journey across Sweden, with the opening of the 500th charging point.

Both companies have been working together since 2021 to establish one of Sweden's largest networks of super-fast chargers. The goal of the initiative is to have 800 charging points at 300 OKQ8 stations by 2026.

"500 charging points is an important milestone on our way to making EV charging quick and easy for everyone. By increasing accessibility, we contribute to reduced carbon dioxide emissions from transport, which is an important part of the transition to a sustainable future,” said Karin Eriksson, CEO of OKQ8 Scandinavia.

Currently, charging services are available at 139 service stations from Vittangi in the north to Trelleborg in the south.

Skellefteå Kraft, which produces 100% renewable electricity through its own wind, hydro and bioenergy power stations, is responsible for the installation and maintenance as well as the supply of electricity to the super fast chargers.

Charging capacity of OKQ8 chargers starts at 150 kW across all locations and, depending on the car and the battery, vehicles can be charged for another 25 miles of driving in about 20 minutes.
