Enhanced storage and rail infrastructure to handle 400,000 tonnes of LPG annually.

ORLEN Paliwa has completed a significant expansion of its Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Terminal in Szczecin, boosting both storage and handling capabilities to meet rising demand and enhance energy supply security.
The project, valued at over PLN 150 million (approximately $37 million), has doubled the terminal’s storage capacity and increased its annual handling volume by nearly 65%, now reaching 400,000 tonnes of LPG per year. Delivered by a consortium of Polish companies led by AGAT S.A., the upgrade is part of ORLEN’s broader strategy to diversify supply sources and strengthen its logistics infrastructure.
“This expansion strengthens ORLEN’s market position and enhances supply security for our fuel station network and customers,” said Marek Balawejder, Member of the Management Board, Retail Sales at ORLEN.
The project responds to the growing role of maritime imports in Poland’s LPG market, which now account for over 35% of total imports. To support increased volumes, the terminal’s rail facilities were upgraded with three new tracks, a new railcar unloading station with weighing equipment, and a modern LPG pump station.
A key feature of the expansion is the installation of two new 75-metre storage tanks, each with a capacity of 2,100 cubic metres. Built at Gdynia Shipyard, these tanks bring the terminal’s total storage capacity to 8,700 cubic metres.
As Poland’s leading fuel wholesaler, ORLEN Paliwa operates dedicated LPG terminals at seven sites nationwide, including the expanded Szczecin facility, ensuring reliable delivery of gasoline, diesel, LPG, heating oil, and electricity to customers across the country.
