ORLEN Unipetrol has taken a significant step toward its sustainability and decarbonization goals by installing photovoltaic (PV) power plants at selected ORLEN fuel stations in the Czech Republic.

The first three installations have been successfully completed in Slaná near Semily, Velvary, and Česká Skalice. Such a move is part of the company’s broader retail modernization strategy, which includes not only the use of renewable energy but also other eco-friendly features. These include air handling system heat recovery for more efficient thermal energy use, and rainwater retention tanks to reduce potable water consumption.

“Our long-term goals include reducing emissions and achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, and projects like this represent tangible steps toward realizing that vision,” said Agnieszka Bobrukiewicz, Member of the Board at ORLEN Unipetrol responsible for retail and marketing.

Looking ahead, the company plans to install solar panels at five additional fuel stations by the end of 2025.

ORLEN aims to modernize 20 fuel stations with these sustainable upgrades over the next two years, according to Rostislav Moravec, Director of ORLEN’s fuel station network in the Czech Republic.
