OXXO has revealed plans to expand its fuel retail presence across Mexico by almost doubling its current service station count in the next five to ten years.

In a recent interview with El Sol de Mexico, David González, Operations Manager at OXXO Gas, confirmed the brand’s ambition growth plans. The company is eyeing easily accessible locations as well as leveraging its current offers and solutions, including its fintech operations as well as payment services.

Currently, the FEMSA-owned brand has over 570 stations across 17 states, most of them located in the northern region of the country.

González also specified that this initiative is set to be completed in the next five to ten years, aspiring to establish a total network of 1,000 locations. OXXO’s short-term goal is to focus on opening more sites in Nuevo León.

Mexico’s fuel retail market consists of over 13,800 service stations, with more than half of them operating under the Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) brand.
