New Livingston site boosts low-carbon trucking across Scotland’s busiest logistics corridor.

ReFuels has opened a new public-access biomethane (Bio-CNG) refueling station in Livingston, West Lothian, strengthening Scotland’s low-emission transport infrastructure.
Operated under the CNG Fuels brand, the station is strategically positioned between Edinburgh and Glasgow, two of the country’s largest freight hubs. The Livingston station is located near major distribution centres for Tesco, DHL, Aldi, and Iceland, and is designed to support fleet operators in cutting transport-related emissions.
“As we expand our network, we’re seeing increasing demand for Bio-CNG from both new and existing customers. With strong growth potential in domestic and European biomethane production, Bio-CNG can play a major role in reducing HGV emissions across the continent,” said Philip Fjeld, CEO of ReFuels.
The new site can refuel up to 14 trucks simultaneously, supporting more than 600 HGVs daily, with an annual capacity of 20 million kilograms of Bio-CNG.
This is ReFuels' second station in Scotland, following the 2021 launch of the country's first renewable biomethane HGV station near Bellshill on the M8 corridor. CNG Fuels currently operates 15 Bio-CNG stations across the UK, with the ability to refuel over 10,500 HGVs per day.
